First year on the market

We entered 2020 as a new company to digitize corporate training into Industry 4.0 using virtual and augmented reality. We are now approaching the end of 2020 and we are more than pleasantly surprised by the interest from new clients and the overall number of new inquiries.

We are a company that offers services of the „future“. Many companies are still getting their hands on VR and AR and discovering their true use, whether in employee training, presenting their products, remote machine support, or virtual tours, for example. We think the VR and AR market will have a major boom in the next 5 years. We’re really happy that we already have an existing clientele and new inquiries are coming in

Fulfilling the vision of VR/AR education

We believe that education in virtual and augmented reality is not the future but the present. That’s why we founded VR Education, to accelerate the adoption of new technologies and help companies digitalize to Industry 4.0 levels.

Let’s take a look together at what our beginnings looked like and then immediately look forward to 2020, when we have implemented and completed dozens of contracts. We have selected these ten jobs to describe WHAT we did, HOW we did it and WHAT we solved by doing it. With these examples, we hope you too will get a better understanding of how to use VR and AR in your business.

Chapter 1

Challenging technical development and discovery in 2019

Before everything started, we had to dedicate the whole of 2019 to development and research. It was hundreds of hours of researching, testing and defining how virtual reality education should look and feel to the end user.

It was a time when each of us had to put significant funding, time and most importantly effort into defining what virtual reality education would actually look like and how to do it best.

With perseverance and a bit of luck, we managed to sort it all out and now we are in 2020.

Photos from development and discovery

We first started with VR video production because it’s the most efficient way to generate the most realistic virtual reality content.

In order to have anything at all to show, we created a couple of blocks of training on soft skills, where the user could learn how to better manage stress, communication or work organization, for example.

First attempts at training in VR

As soon as we had our main product ready (creating content for VR using high-end 8K 360° 3D video) we started exploring other possibilities for virtual and augmented reality.

We partnered with VRgineers, who make the world’s best VR headset, Xtal, and also with Tasty Air, an Ostrava-based studio who creates interactive virtual and augmented reality apps for us

Exploring the VR/AR market opportunity

After a very challenging period of development where we overcame a number of obstacles, both financial and technical, we successfully entered the market and started providing our services in December 2019.

We didn’t know what to expect at all, as virtual and augmented reality is still so new that most people don’t even know that these technologies are here and can be easily afforded by everyone. So we started to fully execute our mission of education to get companies to learn as much as possible about the possibilities of VR/AR.

Sample of Top Completed Orders

1. VR tour of St. Wenceslas Cathedral in Olomouc

The virtual tour of St. Wenceslas Cathedral was realized at the turn of 2019/2020 for the Museum of Art in Olomouc.

We realized this commission using VR/360 video in 8K, which allowed us to film valuable places of the Cathedral and preserve its interior appearance. We also filmed a classical music concert in the Cathedral during the 2019 Autumn Festival of Sacred Music. Another highlight of the tour is the view from the tower, from which you can see Olomouc bathed in the rising sun.

The purpose of this tour was to bring the Cathedral’s treasured sites into focus and to allow people access to the Cathedral even during times when it (and its tower) cannot be visited. This video can be viewed at the Archdiocesan Museum in Olomouc and on our YouTube channel.

2. Faurecia - VR training on OSH (MSFT awards finalist)

Faurecia is a company that is in the automotive industry, making car seats for Porsche, BMW, Jaguar, etc. The OHS training was requested by Faurecia based on recent workplace injuries and their future prevention.

This job was made possible thanks to VR/360 video in 8K. The training was approximately 6 minutes long, in which you were in the workplace and going through the job description of a train driver position. You witness the proper workflow of the position and at the end, you are in for a bit of a shock as you experience a collision with a forklift and really get to experience what it’s like to not pay attention on the job and fail to maintain workplace safety.

This position has seen a 35% improvement in corrective action as a result of this training! Because of this improvement, we also won a Microsoft Awards finalist award for this job (2nd place in the Cultural Change in Organization category).

3. Museum of Art in Olomouc - VR tour of the Zdík Palace

This virtual tour of the Zdík Palace is indirectly connected to the virtual tour of St. Wenceslas Cathedral. This commission was realized for the Museum of Art Olomouc.

The technology was again VR/360 video in 8K, which we used to film the entire Zdík Palace. The Zdík Palace will be closed for the next year and a half for long-term reconstruction.

The VR video will be used by the museum to make Zdík’s palace accessible during the reconstruction period, allowing visitors to be transported to the site at any time of the year.

4. VR tour of the Starobrno brewery in Brno

We took a virtual tour of the Starobrno brewery with elements of occupational health and safety for our client Heineken.

This virtual tour uses VR/360 video in 8K, thanks to which we captured the points of the tour, and also some places where a person going on a tour of the brewery does not look. Throughout the video, you’re not only presented with escape exits from each point on the tour, but also the unwanted moments that can occur if you don’t follow the rules.

This virtual tour was designed to give people going on the brewery tour information about safety in an accelerated format.

5. Czech Post - VR video for recruitment

We implemented a VR/360 video with the Czech Post to recruit new employees.

We realized the order with the help of VR/360 video in 8K, thanks to which we captured the postal hub in Pilsen from the point of view of the package. The whole video is done in the way of a package journey. When you put on the VR glasses, you suddenly become a parcel traveling through the Czech Post junction. You can witness what happens to the parcel after it is received at the postal hub.

The aim of this project is to recruit new employees at trade fairs thanks to virtual reality. Just imagine the power of VR video that you get to experience at a trade fair, instead of dozens of flyers that don’t even reach you anymore. Czech Post will use this video to recruit new employees not only at trade shows but also at Czech Post events.

6. AC Sparta Praha - training camp in Austria

With AC Sparta Praha we made a VR/360 video from the training camp in Austria 2020.

In this case, the VR video allowed us to show how the training camp in Austria took place within 6 minutes. You will see how such a day of footballers goes, what they eat for breakfast, how they train, and even how they play a preparatory match.

The aim of this project was to bring Sparta fans closer to the training camp in Austria. AC Sparta Prague will use the video for internal events as an enticing way to introduce the fans to the training camp in Austria.

7. Association of Social Service Providers - training for social workers

The Association of Social Service Providers cares for several nursing homes and inquired about how to effectively train their social workers.

This was made possible by an 8K VR/360 video, which allowed us to capture the flow of each part of the day and show how a social worker should behave and what she should look out for.

In this case, the VR video fulfills an educational purpose for the social workers who are being trained thanks to VR. The workers can look at case situations and analyze where not to make mistakes in communication, how to behave towards the client, etc.

8. C-Flat - classical music concert in VR

C-Flat demanded the production of a classical music concert with professional 360 sound.

This production of a total of 15 songs from three different performers was realized with VR/360 video in 8K, which captured the overall concert from the setting of the beautiful castle in Ploskovice. After putting on the glasses, you are part of the concert at the Ploskovice Castle. You will enjoy the concert in a much more realistic way thanks to the 360 sound, which allows you to change the sound as you turn your head as if you were really standing on the spot.

The aim of this project was to bring a concert of classical music from a beautiful setting using 360 sound.

9. Virtual tour of the Archdiocesan Museum in Olomouc

We are in close contact with the Museum of Art in Olomouc, so when the lockdown came, which didn’t pass the museum by, they approached us about a virtual tour of their permanent exhibition.

We solved this project with 360 photos that are linked together so the user is able to take a realistic walk through the exhibition. One can zoom in on the exhibits in question and choose the route to take.

The aim of this tour was thus to bring the permanent exhibition closer to the museum visitors from the comfort of their homes. You can view the exhibit at this link.

10. Interactive application for the Museum of Art in Olomouc - a return to the 13th century and a chat with the founder, Bishop J. Zdík

An interesting project we are working on and finalizing is an interactive VR app. This application will be used for visitors of the Museum of Art in Olomouc, who thanks to VR can be transported to the 14th century, where they will be welcomed by the founder of the Zdík Palace, Bishop Jindřich Zdík himself.

This project was tailored to the requirements of the Museum of Art in Olomouc. The entire interactive application had to be programmed and the environment modeled. This project is demanding and divided into several phases. Currently, we have completed the first phase, where we have only modeled Zdík’s palace and the surrounding environment. The second phase will bring more layers to the scene, spaces, and characters. The third and final phase will already include a fully interactive environment of Zdik’s 14th-century palace where you can enjoy freedom of movement, interaction, and dialogue.
